Paige's Predicaments

Everyone told me having a girl is so much easier then having a boy because they don't get into everything like the boys do. WRONG! Either I was lied to or I just have a mischievious little girl! Paige has a way of getting herself into predicaments on a daily basis! Here are just a few...

I came in the kitchen to find Paige stuck under a chair but was curious to see if she could get out. So instead of helping her, I grabbed the camera!

"How do I get out of here?"

"Aren't you going to help me?

"Ok, guess I'll figure it out!"

"Think I'll rest a minute first."
(Here you can see the paper in her mouth she probably crawled under there to get in the first place!)

"Here I go!"

"Almost there"

"Just gotta get this last leg over!"

"I'M FREE!"

She was quite proud of herself!

Good job P!

Every couple of hours Reed will yell "I spill!" The one time I chose to ignore him for a couple of minutes to prolong the inevitable cleanup, this is what I found...

That would be acryllic paint on my hardwood!

Reed stood there yelling "SPILL, SPILL" accusingly, as if Paige had gotten into my desk and opened the bottle of paint herself!

She did, however, choose to make a HUGE mess!

Whenever there's something spilled, she likes to rub her hand in it, even if it's her own spitup!

Again, quite proud of herself!

Do you think maybe she was mad at me for putting her in a pair of Reeds old pajamas that are blue with dogs on them? She wanted to make herself pretty in pink so no one mistook her for a boy!

Paige puts everything and anything in her mouth on a daily basis! She doesn't discriminate, food, trash, doesn't matter!

Eating wood chips at the park. Mmmmm

As soon as I bust her, she locks her mouth shut.

"Leave me alone mom!"

Don't worry, I got it out! This time....

Tailgating

Every couple of days Justin and Reed will disappear for a while and I know they're sitting out in Dada's "big, big, big truck" listening to music. Reed LOVES trucks and hanging out with Dada is one of his favorite things to do.

We've been stuck at home with colds for the past couple of days and cabin fever has definitely set in. This afternoon Reed asked me to go sit in Dada's truck. I instantly said no because I had a thousand things to do. I got behind on laundry, cleaning, dishes, etc. and today was the first day I felt well enough to do it all. Instantly huge crocodile tears welled up and he started crying the most heartbroken, devastated cry!

I instantly had to check myself and remember that Reed hasn't left the house in days either. Reed has missed out on playing with his friends, going on outings and being out of the house. He was actually asking me to share in a priveledge previously only reserved for him and Dada and I had selfishly declined just because I didn't want to!

I think sometimes we forget how much the smallest things mean to our children and how easy it is to make them happy. Just like any other "job" sometimes we don't feel like it, we're tired, we're busy and we don't want to make the effort. But unlike a normal "job" our actions have a much larger impact on the lives of another human being, whether it's positive or negative. The reward is far greater when we respond by putting them first! Reed reminded me of this today and so I grabbed the keys and off we went and he was the happiest little boy on earth!

"Driving" dada's truck

Always time to check out airplanes!

He loves looking at himself in the mirror!

Telling mama to get back in.

I was showing him the back and he was yelling for me to get him!

I started jumping up and down to rock the truck! (Don't tell Justin)

Reed finally joined me for our own little tailgate party!

Checking out the equipment

Look at those eyelashes!

Checking out another truck going by.

And another airplane!

Thanks boss for reminding me that I always have to do a good job whether I feel like it or not!

Paige Riley 9 Months

I took Lil P to get her 9 month pictures this week. She was going to wear her Easter dress but when I put it on her the morning of her pictures, the 12 month dress barely covered her butt! So I got to Kohls right when it opened at 8:00 and couldn't decide on anything I loved so I bought two options (size 18m). Then I went to the dollar tree for headbands and Walmart for flowers to make headbands to match her outfit options. I rushed home to get her down for a nap and make the headbands but no such luck! She was in there talking for a half hour so I finally gave up and got her. I finished the headbands and decided to leave early and go to Target to get an outfit I had seen the week before that I loved and let her catch 20 minutes sleep in the car. She fell asleep right before we got there and woke up when I took her out! So five minutes of sleep, got the outfit at Target and made it to JC Penney by 10:40 for her pics! It was a nighmare of a morning with me waiting until the last minute to make sure her outfit was lined out. Very out of character for me as I'm always prepared! All that to say, I think the results were worth it!

Some of her 9 months milestones: she just cut her top tooth so she now has three, she learned to stand up and drives Reed crazy taking his cars off the coffee table where they used to be out of her reach, she learned to wave and say "bye, bye" and she finally knows how to crawl properly but still prefers the army crawl most of the time!

Our little girl is growing up so fast already and we cherish every moment. She brings us so much joy and just lights up our lives. The thing that everyone always says about Paige is "she's always so happy!" And as you can see, five minute nap and rough outfit changes aside, that statement is true...
