Cookie Tradition

Even though we already decorated Halloween cookies with our friends, I HAD to continue our tradition of making sugar cookies and letting the kids decorate. This was the first year Paigey got to do it with me and Reed. Of course, she was more into the eating than the decorating....

I let them lick the batter but Reed didn't want to for some reason. Paige is never one to turn down sweet treats!

Pure delight!

Reed LOVES "sprinklers" so this is all he wanted to do! He helped me cut out the shapes, I did the frosting and then he topped them off!

I kept telling him to smile for the camera but he wouldn't look at me and smile at the same time!

He's laughing because he knows he's messing with me!

This is what I finally got!

Paige misunderstood the project and immediately grabbed a cookie to eat.

When I told her to decorate, not eat, she grabbed ANOTHER cookie.

Finally the decorating began.

I love continuing these little traditions with my kids so we can look back every year on them doing the same things as they grow. Next up on the list is pumpkin carving but I didn't even get my pumpkins yet! Hmmm, we'll see if that actually happens......

Greenspot Farms Pumpkin Patch

Sunday we went to the pumpkin patch at Greenspot Farms. If you haven't been, you have to check it out! http://www.greenspotfarms.com/ It's out in the middle of nowhere in Mentone and a little hard to find but definitely worth the extra effort! Every year we've gone to the Live Oak Canyon Pumpkin Patch. But we got tired of the crowds and crazy prices so went to Greenspot instead! As you can see from the pics, it's smaller but also less crowded and actually has parking! Everything we did was free except for the $3 train ride.

Peek-a-boo!

Paigey's always going outside the box!

Sweet face

Paige LOVES animals! I call her "The Animal Whisperer" because she really does have a way with them! I think they sense a kindred spirit in her and see that she has no fear of them.

Reed likes to look at the animals but not touch!

Here they have a FREE maze of bails of hay. It's not as big as Live Oak's corn maze but I am still bitter two years later that our family paid $12 to walk thru a lame corn maze! Ok, moving on....

In she goes!

They LOVED running through the maze away from Dada the "monster!"

Where is Dada?

Paige got lost and scared and had to be rescued. :(

Reed wanted to stay in there all day! LOVE this pic of him!

Reed stopped to get a wood chip out of his shoe....

I love how Paige copies his every move and word!

Love this pic of her pretty eyes!

Taking Dada to the wooden train

Reeds number one obsession is TRAINS!

Paigey likes them too!

I tried SO HARD to get a good pic of them with the pumpkins but Paige kept running off!

Always on the move!

Reed was a great sport!

So handsome!

This was the best I got.

Paige finally smiled but Reed blinked!

And then she was gone again!

Reed wanted to go on the real train - of course!

Paige kept saying "I'm scared of the train." I'm so proud of her for using complete sentences now but not the one I wanted to hear on an already moving train! It did make a LOUD scary noise!

Trying to pick up the pumpkins

Silly boy wouldn't look at the camera

Paigey loved the teeter totter!

That's chocholate chip cookie on her face!

Paigey was wiped after no nap and hot fun in the sun at the pumpkin patch! Love their sleeping pics! So sweet.

Now that I bashed Live Oak I must confess I will be there with my church's moms group this Wednesday but their tour is an awesome deal! Glad my kids still get to go to the one they've been to every year without spending $50! Greenspot is definitely a new family favorite!
